The Measure of Their Days

The Measure of Their Days, by JoAnn Kinnan Bushman, will take you on a unique journey through time. This book is based on hundreds of letters and photographs that span a century and might be the most unusual book you will ever read.
Imagine you enter a century old house, climb up into the attic and find a mysterious aged trunk. You open the trunk and discover hundreds of letters, photographs and documents. Someone has carefully arranged all of the items in order by date. You begin to read, first about the history of the origins of the writers of the letters. Then you read the letters one by one, beginning with the first one written in 1864, by a gentleman prospecting for gold as he describes the inside of his cabin…."a blanket for a door, windows are but holes...."
When you have finished reading the hundreds of letters, and looked at the photographs, you close the trunk feeling as though you have lived through another era, and became a member of the Frisbee and Kinnan families, sharing their hopes, dreams and heartaches. The old trunk, with all of the letters and photographs, has been like stepping through a door into the past, traveling back through history to the early 1900's and actually living there.
